This is a good question. 
Both straight and gay women find prospective lays in uniform very enticing. (For lesbos, it's usually a courier's uniform, or flight attendant) Personally, for me, cops (handcuffs ), tradesmen, firies, ambos.....
Part of it, is the 'knight in shining armour' concept.........strong, masculine, fit, masculine, hot, masculine......you get me?
"Hi, I'm the plummer, I'm here to clean out your pipes."...........
Most of its just roleplay fantasy.......a nice piece of arse, a 'man's man', a gut who's done a hard day's work, which is what everyone can appreciate...
Financial security?  No, I don't think that's the attraction......or else, everyone would go for the guy wearing the Armani suit, with a perfect manicure, and more hair products than Jennifer Aniston. THAT is financial security. The uniform on a man is equivalent to lingerie on a female, I guess.....VERY nice visual!!!!
