| What constitutes x-rated movies in Australia?
I read this on smh.com.au : A police spokeswoman could not confirm the exact nature of the
films, but said they were likely to be X-rated pornography, which
is illegal in most Australian states, including NSW, but not in the
ACT and Northern Territory.
X-rated movies are illegal, but brothels are not? 
I'm gonna need to know what is legal, so I can clear my HD before I come to AUS.

I didn't get a chance to consult my lawyer  , but I'll try to answer your questions to the best of my limited knowledge....
First of all, I guess X-rated porn is hardcore, snuff, beastiality???
Nt and ACT are actually territories of Australia, not states.....what does that mean? Not much.......just means they have the right to self-govern, have their own parliament, pass their own laws..........which doesn't mean that much, as the federal government (the Commonwealth of Aus) can override them, if they so wish. Case in point.........a few years ago, the NT wanted to pass a law making euthanasia legal, but was promptly stopped....
Yes, brothels are legal here, but have laws and egulations to adhere to......illegal brothels are also rife.
I'm guessing they're legal because it would be a lucrative windfall for the government, taxes, etc, and a place for the politicians to get their rocks off (although alot of THEM prefer little boys  ) Also, there is the belief that brothels reduce potential sex crimes... 
And anyway, it IS the world's oldest profession. 
Oh, and yeah, if you were to come to Australia, I think it'd be in your best interests to clear your HD.  |

Porn isn't illegal, just certain types.....X-rated porn, in this case.
